The Downbeat Jazz Critics poll, published in the magazine’s August issue, summarizes the assessments of some top jazz critics as to the ‘best’ in various categories.  One of those categories is the Jazz Album of the Year.

This year’s picks truly stretch the boundaries of ‘what is jazz’.
